G.J. Roehrig Falls Dead

Apparently stricken while shoveling snow, George J. Roehrig, 56, of 155 Plymouth Dr., superintendent of gas and electric meters for the Central Division of Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., was found dead yesterday near his summer camp at Seventh Lake.   His body was discovered by neighbors who noticed the headlights of Mr. Roehrig's car were on. He was found in front of a rented garage, about a quarter of a mile form his camp, where he apparently had started to shovel the driveway Friday night when he was stricken. Autopsy examination was under way last night at Old Forge.

Mr. Roehrig had been associated with the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. and its predecessors for 37 years. He entered the employ of the Syracuse Lighting Co. April 17, 1913, as assistant meter engineer and had since been in the meter department. He became general superintendent of gas and electric meters in 1937.

A native of Syracuse, Mr. Roehrig attended Lincoln School. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the power company's 25 year Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie Roehrig; a brother, Emil, of Houston, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. C. W. Forbes, and his mother, Mrs. Frances Roehrig, both of East Syracuse.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9 A.M. Wednesday at the home and at 9:30 in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
